Please join us via Zoom on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. PST to welcome our distinguished guest speaker, a 36 year veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces, LGen (ret’d) Stuart Beare, Commander of the Order of Military Merit, Meritorious Service Cross, Meritorious Service Medal, and Canada Forces’ Decoration. He will address the Society on “Defence and Security in the World – as it has become, and that is coming. Reflections for Canada.”
LGen Beare has seen command at every level, including leading the Canadian Force’s efforts in land warfare and training during combat operations in Afghanistan. LGen Beare led Canadian, multi-national and multi-agency troops and forces in major domestic and international operations. His last command was CJOC – commanding CAF operations at home and abroad.
LGen Beare earned a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from CMR and the Royal Military College in 1983. He is a graduate of multiple Command and Staff programs, including the Technical Staff Course run by the UK’s Royal Military College of Science and Cranfield University; Canada’s Joint Command and Staff Program; and attended the U.S. Joint Forces Command Capstone and Pinnacle programs.
Since retiring, LGen Beare has been a member of the Canadian Red Cross Government Relations Advisory Committee,a Fellow with the Canadian Global Affairs Institute, and is currently Colonel Commandant of the IntelligenceBranch and the Canadian Intelligence Corps. He is chair of the Board for Soldiers Helping Soldiers and Patron for the Roman Catholic Military Ordinariate in Canada. He remains – since 2016 – a Strategic Advisor for Defence and Public Safety for Accenture, here in Canada and as part of Accenture’s Global Defence practice and Defence Council. After 20 moves as a son of a soldier and as a soldier himself, LGen Beare and his wife France now call Ottawa home. They are blessed with 3 children and 8 grandchildren.
