Churchill and Queen Elizabeth II – Roddy MacKenzie

February 24, 2016 @ 05:00pm

Please join us on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 to welcome our guest speaker Roddy MacKenzie.  He will address our Society on Churchill and Queen Elizabeth II.

The relationship between Sir Winston and Queen Elizabeth II had a considerable impact on one another in the twilight of his career and the launching of hers.  He was the first of her dozen British Prime Ministers and innumerable Commonwealth leaders. She was his sixth and final Sovereign.  This presentation explores the relationship between two of United Kingdom’s greatest icons.

Roddy MacKenzie was born and raised in Calgary and educated at the University of Calgary and the University of British Columbia.  He was a municipal law lawyer for municipalities throughout British Columbia, a Queen’s Scout with memberships in Clan MacKenzie, the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada, the Naval Officers’ Association of BC, Probus and the Churchill Society of BC.  Roddy has had a strong interest in the Royal Family and Winston Churchill for many years and has spoken on this topic to the West Vancouver “Fit Fellas” usually on the Queen’s Birthday a number of times.  Roddy is married and has four children.
