On a Clear Day” 9/11 – An Eyewitness Account – Bert Upson

    September 15, 2015 @ 05:00pm

Please join us on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 to welcome our guest speaker Bert Upson.

Bert Upson will talk of his experiences on that tragic day in New York City on 9/11.  Bert Upson is the author of, ” On A Clear Day”, which acquaints the reader with Bert Upson’s perilous escape from the 78th floor of the South Tower of the World Trade Center on 9/11. He got out with a minute and a half to spare and spent the day under trying and dangerous circumstances with ‘’no place to go and no way to get there.” His book purports to answer questions that still plague many Americans – what really happened, how did it happen, could it have been prevented, and what are the chances another 9/11 could happen again?

There are no simple answers even today, fourteen years later, but Upson brings the events of 9/11 into sharp focus and includes a complete timeline he developed from accountable sources along with an executive summary of the 9/11 Commission Report on Terrorism in the United States and A New Kind Of War from the Rutgers Law Review that answer critical questions and became the new model for the new Department of Homeland Security.

Both reports received the highest literary acclaim. It took ten years for the author to overcome the shock and awe of 9/11 to commit to writing such a comprehensive yet unbiased exposition of 9/11. The book reads like a novel, keeping readers on the edge of their seats. David McCullough, noted author and Pulitzer Prize recipient wrote to Bert saying, “Bert, you do indeed have a story to tell and as a firsthand account of someone who was “there” in the midst of the horror of it all, what you’ve written, as is, has great historic value; of that there’s no question.”

He earned his B.A. from Yale University in 1955 with honors as a European History major and, later, trained to become a master facilitator of the Pacific Institute’s world renowned personal and professional development program which he taught throughout corporate America for twenty years. Following college he was commissioned as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army, Headquarters and Ft. Ord, California, where he became Secretary of the General Staff.
