The Churchill Society of British Columbia was founded in 1979 and is devoted to the memory of this outstanding world leader to ensure that his ideals and achievements are not forgotten and are utilized by succeeding generations.

2011 Year in Review

  • On February 17, 2011 featured speaker Christopher Gaze who spoke on “Churchill and Shakespeare”.
  • On March 7th, 2011 United States Consul Phil Chicola hosted a fundraiser for the Churchill Memorial Fund at his home where he addressed the 26 attendees on “Churchill and Cuba”.
  • On May 24th, 2011 Major General Sir Robert Corbett spoke on “The Last British Commandant in Berlin”.
  • On June 22nd, 2011 The Society held its Annual Banquet. Dr. John Maurer, Chairman of the Department of Strategy and Policy of the US Naval War College, spoke on “Churchill, Roosevelt and the Road to Pearl Harbour”.
  • On September 29th, 2011 Terry Anne Wilson, Professor at the Vancouver Art Institute, spoke on the making of the film “Casablanca”.
  • On November 29th, 2011 our Annual Generl Meeting and dinner featured speaker Paul Sommerville who spoke on “Churchill and Social Justice”.
