Please join us on Thursday, November 21 to welcome our guest speaker Joel Fagan. He will address our Society on “Churchill and the Jews.”
Dr. Joel Fagan was born in Hamilton, Ontario and trained in pediatric medicine in Toronto and Montreal. He practiced and taught pediatrics at the University of Calgary from 1974 to 1995 then moved to Victoria becoming the medical director of the Queen Alexandra Centre for children’s health. He retired in 2000.
He and his wife sandy have 2 adult daughters and are anticipating their 50th wedding anniversary in 2014.
For many years Dr. Fagan has had an interest in 20th century military history, in particular the career of Winston Churchill. He was an early member of the Winston Churchill Society of Vancouver Island and is currently its secretary. He is an active member of the Jewish community in Victoria.
Dr. Fagan understands Churchill’s support for the goals of Zionism, let alone his conduct in the Second World War. He has benefitted from a study of Martin Gilbert’s marvelous book “Churchill and the Jews“.

Cost: $25 each for a Member of the Society, $35 each for a non-Member
$40 for a Member accompanied by either a spouse, partner or an immediate family member
